Doing your due diligence will pay big dividends when you are looking for a program to help you loose unwanted weight.

Doing your due diligence will pay big dividends when you are looking for a program to help you loose unwanted weight. I have seen commercials on TV for diets for many years and really did not pay much attention to them. For the most part, we can really discount all the hype from the profession athletes or models. When you do your due diligence there are a number of things that can give you a leg up.

Notice the photographic trickery used. The before picture is always closer, thus larger and the after is at taken at a greater distance. Yes, they have lost weight, but the picture distorts the result.

Beyond this thought, they rave about the amount of weight lost. Sixty seven pounds lost by this person and forty five for that one. What you must due is figure out how long will each companies meals takes to loose thirty pounds. Then compare on the same basis. The factor is, how quickly can loose the weight, as long as it is safe. When it takes longer, you can become discouraged. The mark of thirty pounds can also be used to determine the cost that the plan to achieve the weight loss that you would like to have.

One other thing that is often over looked is the nutrition value. Often the ready-to-use food systems provide by plans have low amounts of vitamins and minerals. The companies usually have supplements available to sell to you. This improves their bottom line and adds to your outlay. Do you due diligence before committing to a plan.

I am guy in my sixties and reality was hitting me hard this spring as I was getting the yard in shape over the weekend.

I am guy in my sixties and reality was hitting me hard this spring as I was getting the yard in shape. Weeds to get rid of, garden to till and plant, and shrubs that needed attention. It looked good when I was done but I really felt the pain for the next couple of days. Memory took me back to last year and the same thing had happened with the exception that I complained more this year and a friend heard the complaint.

He suggested that I stop the complaining and do something about my health now before something happened that might sideline me for a while or maybe forever. My friend was rough on me using words like heart attach and ruptured disc. First reaction, I’m manly and that’s not going to happen to me. Second reaction, well maybe it could! What should I do?

I did visit my doctor, first time in, I don’t know, maybe 7 or 8 years. According to him I was about 40 lbs over weight based on a healthy Body Weight Index (BMI), my blood pressure was a little high, and their where a few other parameters which were not in range of a health male. The doctor’s advice was to loose some weight, the 40 lbs.

I did as my doctor suggested in just over two month. I feel better and something I noticed was I am sleeping better. I have established a pattern of eating six smaller meals a day. I usually eat 5 serving of fruits and vegetable. I get in about 20 minutes of exercise most days. The downside was that I had to buy new clothes and I hate shopping but it beats being tagged as baggy britches!

If you are a young woman in your thirties, you may have a few extra pounds. Since every body is different the reaction to weight gain can run from ignoring the few extra pounds to an awakening for which a course correction is needed. You see the numbers on the scales, you buy new clothes, you feel sluggish-Is now the time to loose the weight?

If you chose to react by saying enough is enough, here is a dose of reality. Realize that many women have gone before you and many have experience the ‘yo-yo’ effect; they lose the weight, gain it and some more back, and they have repeated the action many times. It doesn’t need to happen like that. Here is one suggestion that can help. Eat at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetable each day.

One vegetable I like and you can get year round is spinach. I usually have one salad a day that includes a serving of shred spinach mix with one or two types of lattice. I will also include some diced radish and cucumber. Spinach has high nutritional value and is very high in antioxidants.

Choosing to loss the weight is great. However, there must be more to the effort that should include setting a clear lifetime goal that includes a lifetime of health. Weight and health are arguably synonymous. Take a look into the “Take Shape For Life” program for which I am a health coach.

Becoming familiar with food labeling laws will help define differences in foods at your local grocery store. The label is telling.

Becoming familiar with food labeling laws will help define differences in foods at your local grocery store. The label is telling. Take for example peanut butter. Natural peanut butter consists of peanuts and sometimes a bit of salt. Processed peanut butter includes peanuts, salt and sugar or high fructose corn syrup, along with other ingredients that are not needed and can have a negative effect on your health. While organic peanut butter would just be ground peanuts that where grown on land without pesticides or herbicides.

Beef, lamb, pork and poultry are most often feed with antibiotics and growth hormones. Unnatural practices are used to increases production. Increased production resulting in human resistance to antibiotics on bacteria is just one of the known problems.

Look for products labeled ‘natural’ indicating the animal has not been given antibiotics or growth hormones. Natural foods are foods that are minimally processed. Natural foods do not include ingredients such as refined sugars, refined flours, milled grains, hydrogenated oils, sweeteners, food colors, or flavorings. Proponents of natural foods diets argue that refined ingredients promote obesity, diabetes, cancer, and heart disease.

Products labeled ‘certified organic’ indicates that the producer upholds a rigorous set of standards for production that go beyond natural. Livestock must be reared without the routine use of antibiotics and without the use of growth hormones and are generally fed a healthy diet. In most countries, organic produce may not be geneticaly modified. Contrary to popular belief, certain non-organic fertilizers are still used. You are able to see more organic foods in the store with the passage of time.

Knowing the differences in food quality and wanting to make good choices in most cases will lead to better health. Natural and organic foods are more nutritious and better support energy needs.

In the United State it is reported that excess weight and obesity account for a huge number of untimely deaths as an direct contributor to coronary heart disease, type 2 diabetes, stroke, osteoarthritis, and certain cancers. Following back from these common deaths, overweight and obesity now account for over 9 percent of all health care costs. Add in the indirect cost of these deaths and health issues and you have a huge number in dollars that could be averted in health care issues.

If we know that a significant 60 percent plus of our population is overweight, and it heaps a huge burden on our health care system, why isn’t the problem being addressed more vigorously? We have heard the adage “follow the money”. Who has the most to gain if you are overweight and/or become sick?

Might it be food company producers, fast food outlets, pharmaceutical companies, hospitals, surgeons and maybe lawyers? That is a fairly long list of special interest that benefit.

So why not fight back and make the simple, every day good choices of eating and exercise. There is a very simple formula which is calories in equal calories out. If you want to lose weight the calories out must be more than calories in. When you get to a healthy weight then calories in must equal calories out. That is it!

Genetics, socioeconomic factors and learned behaviors all play a role in today’s overweight and obesity generating environment. Individuals can make the changes when it is learned behavior. When it is learned behavior a conscious choice can take a person back to a healthy weight.

Poor decisions about food and exercise or lack of exercise are much more responsible for this situation than genetics. It is known that genetics plays a part in about 35% of human make up while the remaining 65% is what each individual chooses to do or not do. Research says that an adult makes at least 200 food choices every day including specific foods and portion size. Coupled with exercise, it becomes more apparent that we have control over how we look, feel and perform.

We are aware that overweight increases the likelihood that you will suffer from overall poor health and eventually become sick. Plain and simple, as your weight rises, so do your risks for health issues. The weight issue of individuals really boils down to simple daily choices. Small errors of judgment in what you eat, in how much you move or don’t move, and other habits that seem insignificant but sneak up on you when one day you are sick. Choose to be health as a lifetime goal. Make choices of healthy food and portions along with a consistent amount of exercise daily.

Are you one of those individuals that believe you are unable to perform in conditioning programs despite being told to tough it out? There may be reasons toughening it out doesn't work for you.

Nutrition is the foundation for human performance. That sounds reasonable, doesn’t it? Would you agree that fitness is the cornerstone of health, weight management and quality of life? Research shows that conditioning programs enhance metabolism, immunity, cardiovascular and emotional health. Are you one of those individuals that believe you are unable to perform in conditioning programs despite being told to tough it out? There may be reasons toughening it out doesn’t work for you. Would you be interested in overcoming your challenges and actually accelerate metabolic fitness? There are safe and natural ways to address issues such as muscle and joint discomfort which may be one of your limiting factors.

Would you consider a company that has 160 patents awarded and pending progressive? If could you chose to a company to supply your nutritional supplements, would you consider one who provides industry-leading research, with full-scale genomics, proteomics, biological, biochemical quality controlled facilities and 50 full-time scientists with advanced degrees in botany, biochemistry, organic synthesis, molecular biology and sports nutrition?

If you are an athlete who abides by the banned substances list and “NCAA Impermissible Nutritional Supplements List” then you will be happy to know, the Chief Science Officer for Univera has provided consultations to world-class athletes for many years. Stephen Cherniski claims many coaches apparently confuse these two lists as to what is banned and what is impermissible. Cherniski understands what you can and can’t do in meeting the body’s demand for nourishment, protection and repair while meeting your obligation to perform legally without the use of anabolic steroids, EPO or stimulants.

The point is the body was made to use. It needs exercise and it needs nutrition to fuel it. The under-conditioned individual needs the right ingredients to put them on the right track to a healthier life. Athletes need nutrition to protect their bodies and they should look to experts who can help. Choosing a company that is progressive and meets the needs of both ends of the spectrum for the person that is conditioned or one that needs reconditioned, here’s one company that can do both and all in between.

Take the 90 day challenge. This is a risk-free offer. If you use the products for 90 days and are not satisfied with the results, you can request your money back. Just hold onto the bottles.

Biography: Stephen Cherniske is a biochemist specializing in nutrition and human performance. He taught clinical nutrition for a UCLA continuing education program for health professionals and lectured for Chapman University for nine years.

Stephen was selected as a nutritional consultant to members of the US Olympic team (1983-84) and was an instructor in sports nutrition at the IronMan Training Camp and Endurance Sports Center, Kona, Hawaii (1982-84).

In clinical research, Stephen directed the nation’s first FDA licensed clinical laboratory specializing in nutrition and immunology. He served on the faculty of the American College of Sports Medicine and designed the nutrition segment of the ACSM National Board Review Course.

He has personally helped in the training of Olypic medal winners (John Powell, Ron Bachus, Mark Crear) Pentathion (Andre Petett), triathlon champions Ferdy Massimino, power lifters (Randy Lim), NFL players (John Alt, Alonzo Mitz, Derrick Fenner) and world record-holders in mountaineering (Dave Scott) women’s fitness (Carol Semple) and martial arts (Chuck Norris). (Provided by S.

Earth Day was started some 39 years ago. The Environmental Protection Agency for the US was founded in the same year. Also, that was the year that Multipure, the company was started. What did they have in common which remains true today?

There was concern about our planet and the natural resources that we are all so dependent upon. Water, an essential part of you life here on this planet call Earth is what was then and continues today to be one of the resources which we need in its purest form to survive.

Earth Day is a reminder that water and other resources are tremendously important in our day to day life. The EPA is responsible for enforcing the existing laws and identifying problem areas. Over the past 39 years there have been progress in the improvement of our streams, rivers, and lakes. But we really need Earth Day to remind us that there is very little pure water remaining and that there is much to be learned and done to keep improving the situation.

Multipure is a company that has provided stop-gap relief for thousand of people that realize that water in almost all case is not good enough to drink, wash our food with, cook our food with or bath in. Multipure filter system also provide a sensible solution to the huge use of fossil fuels use to make plastic bottle, fill the bottles with some source of water, transport the bottle water to retail outlet, then to homes, then to landfill or recycle which uses up more resources.

So Earth Day, April 22 is a good reminder day. The EPA has a job to do that since it is Government it needs to be reminded that they are employees. We the people are their employer and as employers we are very much interested in results. And then there is water filter systems made by a company called Multipure, that can and does provide systems that can deliver good water to us.

When considering men's health there is good evidence to suggest that baldness may be an indicator of both heart and prostate disease.

When considering men’s health there is good evidence to suggest that baldness may be an indicator of both heart and prostate disease. When compared to men with no hair loss at all, the risk of heart disease increased by 9 percent. When a bald spot appears on the crown, relative risk jumps to 23 percent. When all hair is gone from the top of the head, the risk rises by a worrisome 36 percent (Info from Brigham and Women’s Hospital, a teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School). According to Australian researcher, men with bold spots at the top of their heads were 1 ½ times more likely to have moderate to high-grade prostate cancer before age 70 than those without such bald spots.

The common link between these two seemingly unrelated conditions is the male hormone testosterone. Men who lose their hair sooner, or to a greater extent often have higher testosterone levels. These men also display higher conversion rates of testosterone to another male hormone, dihydrotesterone (DHT), which among other actions, interferes with the growth of hair follicles. DHT also stimulates the growth of prostate cells, leading to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in many older men and may lead to prostate cancer.

Soy protein, which has been shown to have a direst beneficial effect on the prostate gland, has two isoflavones that have been shown to greatly reduce the risk of male-pattern baldness. Genistein has been shown to reduce the growth of prostate tissue while daidzein has been shown to stop the progression of prostate cancer and male pattern baldness by blocking the hormone DHT. These two isoflavones from soy have also been shown to protect against heart disease by slowing the growth of cells that form plaque in the coronary and other arteries.
