Overweight and Obese People Pay It Forward to Special Interest Companies

In the United State it is reported that excess weight and obesity account for a huge number of untimely deaths as an direct contributor to coronary heart disease, type 2 diabetes, stroke, osteoarthritis, and certain cancers.  Following back from these common deaths, overweight and obesity now account for over 9 percent of all health care costs.  Add in the indirect cost of these deaths and health issues and you have a huge number in dollars that could be averted in health care issues.

If we know that a significant 60 percent plus of our population is overweight, and it heaps a huge burden on our health care system, why isn’t the problem being addressed more vigorously?  We have heard the adage “follow the money”.  Who has the most to gain if you are overweight and/or become sick?

Might it be food company producers, fast food outlets, pharmaceutical companies, hospitals, surgeons and maybe lawyers?  That is a fairly long list of special interest that benefit.

imagesSo why not fight back and make the simple, every day good choices of eating and exercise.  There is a very simple formula which is calories in equal calories out.  If you want to lose weight the calories out must be more than calories in.  When you get to a healthy weight then calories in must equal calories out.  That is it!
